Last minute October half-term UK breaks for less than the price of a cinema ticket

BEFORE the Christmas season approaches, families with school-aged children have one last chance to enjoy a staycation.

There are plenty of deals still available to book over the October half-term, with prices starting from £7pp a night – which is less than cinema tickets.

According to statistics, the average cinema ticket costs £7.69 in the UK – and that obviously excludes all of your snacks.

So you could spend £7pp a night and head on a staycation instead.

This year, the half-term holidays should run from October 23 until October 27.

However, it is always best to check with the school and local council before booking.

For instance, schools in Scotland have an early holiday structure, while the rest of England and Wales begin their breaks a week later.

Most holiday parks included give you access to indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sports, bike rentals, entertainment and on-site restaurants.

The biggest bargain we’ve found comes from Pontins, with four-night breaks of £119 per stay.

The deal works out at just over £7 per person a night.

Haven holiday parks also have some good deals during the half-term, all under £300 per stay.

Here are the best three-night breaks deals departing on October 20:

We’ve also found deals on four-night stays, departing on October 24:

Park Holidays UK also has some good deals on three-night stays:

Away Resorts has nine holiday parks in the UK, they provide a variety of self-catering options with central heating and double glazing, so you’ll be nice and warm, while some come with private hot tubs.

More holiday parks and renting companies offer good deals for the October half-term, including Snaptrip and Sykes Cottages.

Here are the best deals we’ve found during the half-term:

If you’re looking for a hotel stay, Travelodge has rooms from £75 per night – even in London.

Premier Inn has rooms from £17pp a night, and there are a number of hotels near theme parks too.

If you’re after a mid-week stay instead, we found the best child-friendly UK breaks where kids eat for free, and deals start from £6pp a night.

And Haven has cheap Halloween stays from £8pp a night.

While Legoland also launched a Halloween party with overnight stays, park entry and freebies from £57pp.
