The throwbacks pictures show a fresh faced Maya along with other TV stars such as, singer Frankie Bridge and England cricket great Freddie Flintoff, CBBC presenter Radzi Chinyananya, and Ryan Hand presenting by the pool.

While Flintoff was the show’s main host and narrator, Maya and the other presenters were poolside reporters who interviewed the players by the games.

Cannonball first aired on ITV in 2017 but it was brutally axed after just one series.

On May 6, 2018, The Sun exclusively revealed Cannonball had been axed after just one series.

The show was forced to film in Malta to compensate for the dodgy UK weather and bosses decided the floundering ratings was not worth its extortionate price-tag.

Bosses were also forced to shell out salaries for five hosts because ex-England cricketer Freddie was the main presenter.

The last series aired on ITV on New Year’s Eve, and it was initially scheduled to return for another in 2018.

A source said: “It was an ambitious one from ITV and, while really good fun, didn’t quite prove a hit with viewers.

“When you factor in the costs of all the contestants’ flights to and from Malta, hotels, the games — as well as paying the presenters — it all added up.

“It was worth a punt but didn’t quite work.”

An ITV spokesman exclusively told The Sun: “The show looked great and was ambitious in scale but just didn’t quite resonate with our audience so we’ve put it on hold. We thank everyone involved.”

The show involved 24 contestants of varying ages competing in four games for gold, silver, and bronze medals.

The top three contestants with the most medals would go to the Cannonball Cup final.
