Sky Sports pundit makes shock switch to rivals TNT Sports just three months after controversial sacking

JAYDEE DYER has moved to TNT Sports for the 2023-24 campaign just three months after being axed by Sky.

The popular reporter was surprisingly let go by Sky Sports at the end of last season, despite having gone down well with viewers.

Dyer was axed as part of a huge cull by Sky Sports that saw six reporters let go – with stalwart Geoff Shreeves departing.

He regularly reported from games up and down the country on Soccer Saturday last season.

While he also worked on Sky’s coverage of the NBA.

Dyer took to Twitter to announce his decision, posting a video of himself relaxing in his swimming trunks by the ocean.

Intertwined between clips of himself interviewing the likes of Thierry Henry, Klay Thompson and Steven Gerrard, he said: “It’s so crazy, they call me in this game the young OG.

“I appreciate it man, I’m ten years deep in this game and I think about my journey – UK, the US. I think about where I’ve been, everything I’ve done.

“And then I think about the most recent section, the last five years at Sky.

“NBA Finals on location, first ever broadcast interview for Sky. At 26 I had my own show. Football interviews that will last forever. Boxing pay-per-views that will always sit in the memories of my heart.

“I love it. I loved it all. I just wanted to be my organic self and I look at the channel and think to myself, ‘we kind of changed the way people perceive broadcasting there’.

“It’s been a great journey but every journey needs a transition.”

He then recreated LeBron James‘ iconic “Decision” – when the NBA superstar announced that he’d be signing with the Miami Heat in free agency back in 2010.

Dyer added: “I guess it’s time to turn around and tell you where I’ll be taking my talents.

“And in this fall, I mean this decision was very tough, but in this fall I’ll be taking my talents to TNT Sports and joining up with the crew.”

He then concluded: “I can’t wait!”

Reacting to Dyer’s news, one fan wrote: “Well deserved.”

TNT Sports replaced BT Sport earlier this year, but retained many of the same pundits, including Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole.

They have introduced some new faces, however, with Laura Woods having joined the team to present on Champions League nights.
