KOTTAYAM: Two political assassinations in just a few hours have shaken the Alappuzha district in Kerala. Early Sunday morning, BJP OBC regional secretary morcha Ranjith Sreenivasan was killed just hours after SDPI regional secretary KS Shan died of serious injuries at a private hospital in Ernakulam.
Sreenivasan, a candidate in the by-elections, was attacked by a mob on Sunday morning. When Shan was attacked by another gang around 7.30pm on Saturday he was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds.

A group of men, who arrived by car, dropped Shan off on his motorcycle and attacked him. According to eyewitnesses, Shan was attacked by four people.
Following the two killings, the regional collector placed a restraining order under Section 144 of the CrPC in the Alappuzha district on Sunday and Monday.
