The Oscars are back for another year, celebrating the best films released in 2021. In the animated race, The Power of The Dog, King Richard and the West Side Story look to be the frontrunners, with the out-of-the-box crowd photo Don’t Look. Up.
Drive My Car, Nightmare Alley, Belfast and Licorice Pizza are also among the films that have benefited the most. Paul Thomas Anderson, Kenneth Branagh, Jane Campion, Steven Spielberg and Ryûsuke Hamaguchi will be the lead director.
Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Olivia Colman, Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart, Benedict Cumberbatch, Javier Bardem, Nicole Kidman and Ariana DeBose are among the contenders for the awards.
Dune, Cruella, Spider-Man: No Way Home and No Time to Die are among the films selected for having technical expertise in fields such as costume and visual effects. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Billie Eilish, Hans Zimmer and Jonny Greenwood are some of the competitors in the music industry. Although Lin-Manuel Miranda nominated for Encanto is not a song you can expect – the filmmakers have submitted Dos Oruguitas for consideration before We Dont Talk About Bruno became enthusiastic.
The 2022 Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC on Sunday, March 27, at 5 p.m. PT (8 p.m. ET). The 94th Academy Awards event may look a little different from last year’s close-knit ideas: This year, there will be a host (we don’t know yet), and new producers have taken over. As usual in recent years, streaming services such as Netflix, Apple TV Plus and Amazon Prime Video will work, especially as the epidemic has disrupted many scheduled theater releases.
The nomination was announced Tuesday by Leslie Jordan, Tracee Ellis Ross and a variety of health workers, school children and other ordinary people. See the list of nominees below.
