Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Cynthia Kiang and David Müller, her counterpart from the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, hosted the 9th Taiwan-Czechia Economic and Technological Consultations Oct. 5 in Prague.
Kiang said that amid global trade fluctuations and supply chain restructuring, Taiwan continues to reinforce global competitiveness in artificial intelligence and semiconductors, while simultaneously seeking to deepen cooperation with Czechia and other like-minded partners.
In response, Müller said that Czechia’s top talent in AI and software complements Taiwan’s exceptional hardware manufacturing ecosystem. He added that he hoped the two sides could expand cooperation in AI and the semiconductor sector.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs said that representatives from both countries exchanged views on topics covering key areas including biotechnology and information communications technology, adding that Czechia expressed an intention to prioritize Taiwan for collaboration in the development of smart cities.
In addition to the meetings, Kiang and Müller visited MSV International Industrial Fair held Oct. 6-9 in Brno. The deputy minister also explored opportunities to enhance pharmaceutical supply chain resilience at Masaryk University Faculty of Pharmacy.
The MOEA said that bilateral trade volume in 2025 reached US$ 2.14 billion, up 200 percent from 2016, when the first economic and technological consultations were held. (POC-E)
