Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung hosted a dinner banquet for a European Parliament delegation July 20 in Taipei City to exchange views on issues such as semiconductor cooperation and youth exchanges.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the group comprised Polish members of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group. The delegation was led by Beata Szydło, former Polish prime minister and current member of the EP’s Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield.
The minister thanked the EP for adopting resolutions and reports supporting Taiwan and reiterating cross-party consensus on the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
In the face of authoritarian expansionism, composite threats and transnational repression, Taiwan and the EU must continue deepening cooperation to strengthen democratic resilience and safeguard the rules-based international order, Lin said.
Lin also recalled his June visit to Poland as the head of a delegation attending the Taiwan Expo in Europe 2026, where he witnessed the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association select Miękinia as a priority location for a new technology park.
He expressed hope that Taiwan will continue to be a pivotal part of the global non-red supply chain while working with friends in the EP and partner countries like Poland to strengthen cooperation in defense, security and technological innovation.
Szydło said that amid the rapid geopolitical shifts, democratic countries must work to boost their security and economic resilience. She commended Taiwan for its democratic governance, sustainable development and technological innovation, adding that there is great potential for bilateral cooperation in academic research, artificial intelligence and technological development.
