Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung arrived in Poland Oct. 10 with a delegation to expand business and trade relations with the European country.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin and his delegation traveled to Miekinia in southwestern Poland Oct. 12 to inspect the site of a technology park in development by Taipei City-based Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association.

Lin said the two countries will conclude a memorandum of understanding by the end of this year to pave the way for the project, provide policy support and a collaborative framework, and create a favorable business environment and solid infrastructure for Taiwanese investment in Poland.

Prior to briefings by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, the local government and other related agencies, Lin said that Poland is the largest economy in Central and Eastern Europe and adding that, given its strong industrial foundation, comprehensive infrastructure development and talent pool, Poland is the doorway to Europe for Taiwanese firms.

Lin said Taiwan has several decades of experience planning and building science parks. The TEEMA Technology Park will focus on advanced manufacturing, AI data centers, business services, electric vehicles and smart city development, he said.

Following its completion, the park will contribute to enhancing supply chain resilience and to Europe’s Industrial Reindustrialization goal, the minister said, adding that Miekinia will also become an information and communications technology and semiconductor hub linking Taiwan, Czechia, Germany and Poland.

The MOFA said another goal of the minister’s visit is to deliver a keynote speech titled “The Taiwan Model: A Trusted Partner for Europe’s Reindustrialization” Oct. 13 at the Warsaw Security Forum’s Brussels Stage at the invitation of the event’s organizers. (SFC-E)
