Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung said that Taiwan is an indispensable strategic partner of Europe and urged Europe to establish a democratic supply chain with Taiwan based on trust and shared values.

Lin made the remarks while attending the opening ceremony of the 2026 Taiwan Expo in Europe June 22 in Warsaw, Poland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. The minister was on a visit to the Central European nation along with a delegation comprising members of major Taiwanese industrial associations and technological enterprises.

Prominent guests at the opening included Michał Jaros, secretary of state at Poland’s Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, and Valère Moutarlier, deputy director-general of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs.

In his remarks, Lin said economic and trade ties between Taiwan and Poland have continued to grow, citing the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association’s March announcement of plans to build a technology park in Poland. As a major industrial and logistics hub in Europe, Poland could play an important role in advancing Taiwan-Europe cooperation, he added.

In response, Jaros thanked Taiwan for choosing Poland as the venue for the expo. Emphasizing the two sides’ long-term partnership, he expressed hope that the event would further stimulate bilateral industrial cooperation.

TEEMA Vice President Kevan Tsai said the forthcoming technology park in Poland will focus on developing an artificial intelligence data center, smart city solutions and electric vehicle-related industries, the MOFA said.

Later that day Lin attended the expo’s Taiwan Night, where Taiwanese troupes Diabolo Dance Theatre and Taiyang Theatre Company performed. Over 300 representatives from Poland’s industrial and political sectors attended the event, the ministry added.

Referring to “Once Upon a Time in Taiwan,” performed by Taiyang Theatre Company as part of the Taiwan Culture in Europe 2026 initiative, Lin said Taiwan and Europe not only are important economic and trade partners but also have strong potential for deeper cultural collaboration. (POC-E)
