Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung received an eight-member Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China delegation July 7 in Taipei City. IPAC is an international alliance of cross-party parliamentarians that addresses challenges posed by China, through a coordinated response on global trade, security and human rights.

Delegation members included Luke de Pulford, co-founder and executive director and Yulia Sirko, Ukrainian Parliament member according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Lin thanked IPAC for its long-standing support for Taiwan, citing the invitation to Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim to make a speech at Nov. 2025’s annual summit at the European Parliament in Brussels. Lin also expressed appreciation for the announcement made in support of President Lai Ching-te’s visit to Eswatini in April this year.

Sirko said that the delegates, despite coming from different countries, all faced the challenge of China’s authoritarian expansion. She stated that the alliance would continue to support Taiwan’s democracy and autonomy.

Also meeting with the delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister François Chih-chung Wu noted that China’s grey zone tactics and military intimidation severely jeopardize regional peace and that there is international awareness of the importance of cross-strait stability.

Wu urged the alliance and other like-minded partners to deepen collaboration with Taiwan. Delegation member, former Indian MP Chaturvedi stated that IPAC called on government agencies and civil groups to witness Taiwan’s vibrant democracy and added that IPAC will continue to defend freedom and human rights.

Founded on June 4 2020, the 31st anniversary of China’s Tiananmen Square massacre, IPAC comprises parliamentarians from 44 countries and over 300 members of the European Parliament. (POC-E)
