MOFA congratulates India PM Modi on inauguration

On behalf of the government and people of Taiwan, Baushuan Ger congratulated India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his inauguration June 9, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ger, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, took the opportunity to present a congratulatory message from President Lai Ching-te, the ministry said.

India’s 18th parliamentary election was successfully concluded June 5. In his response to Lai’s congratulations on social media platform X, Modi expressed hope of deepening mutually beneficial economic and technical cooperation, underscoring the strength of two-way ties.

India is a major New Southbound Policy target country, and the government is eager to expand collaboration with the South Asian nation across the board, the MOFA said. Taiwan will continue advancing partnership in the areas of culture, education, economy, investment, medicine, semiconductors and trade to jointly promote peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific, the ministry added.
