The event was a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Taipei City-based Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association. Godwin Friday, prime minister of the Caribbean ally, participated alongside Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble, minister of foreign affairs, foreign trade, foreign investment and diaspora affairs, the MOFA said.
More than 100 representatives from Taiwan’s energy, infrastructure, smart agriculture and fishing industries were also present to exchange views with the ally’s delegation about potential avenues for cooperation, the ministry added.
In his remarks, Ger noted that through the integrated diplomacy policy and the framework of the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project, the government helps domestic enterprises make connections in allied nations and other international markets. He mentioned the recently expanded Latin American and Caribbean Trade Office as a means to further advance investment, industry and trade links with countries in the region.
In response, Friday said that despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters in recent years, the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has continued to promote economic recovery and industry transition to forge a friendly, safe and stable investment climate. He added that he looked forward to learning from Taiwan’s success in economic, industrial and technological transformation during the trip. (POC-E)
