The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a short film series titled “Taiwan Connects” June 23 to spotlight the robust Taiwan-Europe relations, enhance international understanding of Taiwan and bolster the country’s global visibility.

According to the MOFA, the series was released during a reception hosted by the Taipei Representative Office in Poland for the Polish-Taiwanese Parliamentary Group and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung.

Focusing on the increasingly deep ties between the two sides, the films highlight bilateral cultural exchanges and technological cooperation, as well as shared democratic values. They also bring attention to Taiwan’s diverse culture, open and democratic society, and proactive role as a key partner of Europe.

The ministry said the film “How Distant Are We Really?” features elements such as Taiwan’s signature bubble tea, traditional music and theater, and performances by domestic arts groups during the 2024 Cultural Olympiad in Paris.

We Were Connected All Along!” highlights how Taiwanese technology ensures the smooth running of Europeans’ daily lives and lays the foundation for future prosperity, while “We Share the Same Values!” shows how Taiwan and Europe are looking out for one another amid geopolitical challenges to ensure that democracy and freedom prevail, the ministry added.

The three films, each around four minutes long, are available in both Mandarin and English on the MOFA’s Trending Taiwan YouTube channel and official social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Threads and X. Additional 30-second versions are available in Czech, English, French, German, Italian and Mandarin, the ministry said. (SFC-E)
