The June 24-27 visit of a delegation led by Universitas Indonesia Rector Heri Hermansyah was a great success in promoting bilateral exchanges, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
According to the MOFA, UI is a leading comprehensive university in Indonesia that has a substantial influence on the Southeast Asian nation’s higher education and public policies.
The ministry said Hermansyah has actively promoted bilateral educational cooperation by facilitating an agreement with the International Talent Circulation Base Taiwan-Indonesia to set up the Intense Hub at UI’s Vocational Education Program. The two sides will continue to deepen talent cultivation and employment exchanges, the MOFA added.
During his stay, Hermansyah called on the Ministry of Education, National Taiwan University, National Taipei University of Technology and the Institute of International Relations at National Chengchi University to exchange views on related issues.
He also attended the Medical Taiwan exhibition and visited civic entities such as Taiwan FactCheck Center and One-Forty to better understand the country’s smart medical industry development, democratic resilience and experience counteracting foreign disinformation, and efforts to promote migrant education and workforce development.
Statistics show that Indonesia is the second leading source of foreign students in Taiwan, the MOFA said. Strengthening higher education cooperation will expand exchanges among the next generation of talent while laying the groundwork for closer ties in talent development, industrial cooperation and regional sustainable development, the MOFA added.
