The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the Aug. 10-14 visit of a cross-party parliamentary delegation from Queensland, Australia.
The three-member contingent is led by Trevor Watts, assistant minister to the Premier for Cabinet and South West Queensland. The other two delegates are Kerri-Anne Dooley and Melissa McMahon, both members of Queensland’s legislative assembly.
In addition to attending a ministry reception in their honor, the members of Parliament will visit governmental agencies and speak with representatives of various industry sectors to learn about Taiwan’s achievements and development in energy transition, public safety and technological innovation, the MOFA said, adding that the visit is an opportunity to explore opportunities for future cooperation.
Taiwan and Australia share common values: democracy, freedom, and respect for human rights and the rule of law, the MOFA said, noting that the two sides have long worked closely in education, technology, tourism and trade. The ministry emphasized that Taiwan is committed to enhancing bilateral partnerships to jointly facilitate stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. (POC-E)
