Deputy Foreign Minister François Chih-chung Wu received a Polish parliamentary delegation led by Rafał Komarewicz, chair of the Sejm’s Committee on Economy and Development, May 22 in Taipei City, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Wu stated that Taiwan leverages its advantages in the semiconductor and electronic component industries to contribute to the stability of the global supply chain and economic prosperity. ElectroMobility Poland (EMP), the Polish state-backed company originally behind the national electric vehicle brand, chose Taiwanese businesses with which to build strategic cooperative partnerships, which demonstrates that Taiwan is a reliable and indispensable collaborative partner in the international community, he added.

According to Wu, Taiwan is committed to working with like-minded countries to jointly strengthen democratic resilience and create more safe and resilient global democratic supply chains.

Komarewicz said that both the Polish government and opposition parties attach great importance to relations with Taiwan, adding that deepening these is a cross-party consensus in the Polish Parliament. Poland has strong development potential, he noted, anticipating that more Taiwanese enterprises will invest there to foster bilateral industrial cooperation and mutual prosperity.

Delegation members met with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, Mainland Affairs Council Minister Chiu Chui-cheng, National Security Council Secretary-General Jaushieh Joseph Wu and Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chi-chen during their May 18-22 tour. They also visited the Ministry of Economic Affairs International Trade Administration, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, local governments and companies in Hsinchu City and Kaohsiung City.
