The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the Aug. 11-15 visit of a delegation led by Godwin Friday, prime minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, according to the ministry.
Friday was sworn into office in November 2025, the ministry said, adding that the prime minister chose Taiwan as his first destination outside the Caribbean since taking office, demonstrating the allied nation’s high regard for the bilateral relationship.
President Lai Ching-te will greet Friday with full military honors, and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung will hold a reception for him. Friday is also scheduled to host a celebratory event marking the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, the MOFA said.
Additionally, Friday will call on facilities specializing in the blue economy and smart medicine, attend an investment promotion seminar, and meet with Vincentian expatriates and students in Taiwan.
Taiwan and its Caribbean ally share the values of democracy, freedom, and respect for human rights and the rule of law, and the two countries have enjoyed friendly relations and fruitful cooperation since establishing official ties in 1981. Taiwan pledged to further deepen partnership to jointly advance peace, stability and prosperity, the ministry concluded. (POC-E)
