MOFA welcomes visit by Ukraine’s Bucha City delegation

The arrival of northern Ukraine’s Bucha City mayor, Anatolii Fedoruk and a delegation Nov. 25 is sincerely welcomed by the government and people of Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the group’s four-day stay, they will visit Hsinchu Science Park and Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute in the northern Taiwan city, as well as Taiwan External Trade Development Council and the Taipei Computer Association in the capital. The delegation is looking to attract investment to establish a science park as part of its outreach to democratic nations to help in urban reconstruction after suffering heavy shelling by the Russian military, the MOFA said.

Taiwan has worked closely with the Bucha city government, as evidenced by its assistance in rebuilding air raid shelters and children’s sports facilities, which benefitted over 1,000 households, the MOFA said. Fedoruk recently signed a cooperative memorandum of understanding with Taipei Representative Office in Poland on behalf of 1,031 members of the Association of Ukrainian Cities, the ministry added.

Fedoruk’s trip marked the first time a Ukrainian local government leader has traveled to Taiwan since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, the MOFA said, adding that the current visit will strengthen bilateral business exchanges and industrial cooperation while deepening the mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.
