Moscow attacked by drones – mayor

UAVs damaged several residential buildings, prompting evacuations, officials said

Drones attacked the Russian capital on Tuesday morning, damaging several buildings, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said, as quoted by news agency RIA Novosti. He added that there were no casualties.

Emergency officials told RIA that one drone struck the upper floors of a residential building in the southwestern part of the city. They said that another UAV hit a 24-story apartment block, also in the southwestern part of Moscow.

Sobyanin has ordered the evacuation of residents from the two apartment blocks that were targeted.

Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov wrote on his Telegram channel that “several drones” were shot down by air defenses when they were flying towards the city.

Telegram channel SHOT posted an unverified video of what it said was destruction of a drone mid-air.
