The 2026 Michelin Guide Taiwan was released July 21 in Taipei City, with three restaurants retaining coveted three stars, nine earning two stars and 49 receiving one star.
According to the Tourism Administration, Transportation and Communications Minister Chen Shih-Kai said at the award presentation that local cuisine offers unique tastes and showcases Taiwan’s cultural heritage. The TA’s “Taiwan 100 Ways” initiative enhances the country’s global visibility through travel packages that offer diverse experiences to visitors from around the world, he noted.
As 2026 marks the Michelin star rating system’s centennial and the ninth anniversary of the local edition, the TA hopes that the diverse food culture and vitality of Taiwan will attract ever-more international visitors. The guide lists 47 restaurants based in Taipei, six each in Taichung and Kaohsiung Cities, and one each in Hsinchu County and Tainan City.
Taipei-based Le Palais and Taïrroir and Taichung-based JL Studio continued to receive top three-star status. Among the nine two-star restaurants, all located in Taipei, Mizue was a new inclusion, while Nobuo was promoted from a one-star status awarded the previous year.
In addition, nine eateries were awarded a Michelin Green Star for dining experiences that combine culinary excellence with commitment to sustainability.
The Michelin Service Award went to Cindy Tsai from one-star restaurant Circum- in Taipei; Bonnie Chiou from Lin.nu in Kaohsiung received the Sommelier Award, while Hsu Liu-an from one-star restaurant Sushi An in Hsinchu won the Young Chef Award. (SFC-E)
