The Ministry of Digital Affairs invited for submissions for the 2026 Presidential Hackathon International Track at a news conference July 2 in Taipei City, hoping for shared digital prosperity from artificial intelligence technology.
According to the MODA, the “Digital Inclusion in the AI Era” event encourages participants to leverage digital technologies and AI applications to lower barriers to technology adoption, thereby enabling more people to participate equitably in digital society and share in the benefits and outcomes of AI development. July 31 is the submission deadline for projects.
Digital Minister Lin Yi-jing noted that countries from around the world are considering how to utilize digital tools to enhance public service efficiency, foster social welfare, and address citizens’ practical needs in the face of rapid AI advancement in daily life. The hackathon anticipates a harnessing of collective innovative wisdom to inspire proposals that integrate AI technology into solutions with public value and potential for practical application, Lin added.
Successful teams from past editions including GreenhopeBCTW, CropNow and Beyond Hearing were invited to attend the news conference to share post-competition developments and practical applications. High-profile guests included Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi, Ministry of Agriculture and National Science and Technology Council staff, as well as envoys from 15 foreign embassies and representative offices in Taiwan, including Donya Lynex Francis, St. Kitts and Nevis ambassador to Taiwan; and Katherine Vanessa Meighan, Belizean ambassador to Taiwan.
Launched in 2019, the Presidential Hackathon International Track is instructed by the Presidential Office, organized by the Executive Yuan and hosted by the MODA. It has attracted teams from over 55 countries and territories over the past three years. (YCH-E)
