The white American nurse, accused of murdering her three young children, has the odds rigged in her favor, Reese Everson has told RT

The white American mother accused of murdering her three young children would have instantly been “painted a criminal” had she been African-American, former US congressional attorney and women’s rights advocate Reese Everson has claimed in an interview with RT on Tuesday.

Lindsay Clancy’s defense has not denied that she strangled her three children in January 2023. Her lawyers have argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time and was therefore not criminally responsible for her actions.

According to Everson, Clancy’s identity as a white educated woman and nurse affected how her actions were viewed.

”The unspoken sentences is that no healthy, normal white American woman would do this. So only someone totally out of their mind and in a psychotic breakdown could possibly do something of this magnitude,” she claimed, adding that class and race have already separated this woman, Ms. Clancy, from her actions… If she were African-American, more than likely she’d be painted as a criminal.

Prosecutors have argued that Clancy was lucid when she sent her husband away to pick up takeout, and strangled her daughter Cora, five, her son Dawson, three, and eight-month-old son Callan while he was away. Clancy then attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and remains paralyzed from the waist down.

Jurors failed to reach a unanimous decision on Tuesday, ending their fourth day of deliberations without a verdict.

The case has drawn national attention and divided public opinion, with both supporters and detractors weighing in.
