A delegation of South Korean teachers visited Taiwan May 4-9, underscoring bilateral commitment to advancing education partnership, according to the Ministry of Education.

During the group’s visit, Peng Fu-yuan, director-general of the MOE’s K-12 Education Administration and vice president of the Primary and Secondary School International Educational Exchange Alliance, officially signed a memorandum of understanding with Park Sook-yeal, director of South Korea’s Gyeonggi-do Institute for Global Education, opening a new chapter in educational cooperation, the ministry said.

In his remarks, Peng said that exchanges between the two countries have been stable in recent years, noting that a total of 6,136 people participated in school-to-school exchanges in 2025. He added that the MOU will facilitate reciprocal student visits, collaborative teacher projects and resource sharing between the two sides.

On May 7 the delegates visited the 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan in Taichung City to gain insight into the nation’s disaster prevention education and the Taiwan Space Agency in Hsinchu City to witness the country’s technological research and development capacity, the MOE said, adding that in a seminar held May 8, educators from both sides conducted in-depth discussions on digital transition in international education and sustainable development goal education amid climate change, laying a foundation for further collaboration.

Gyeonggi province is a major hub of educational innovation in South Korea, and the inking of the pact is expected to advance global education while creating a mechanism for domestic academic institutions to broaden students’ horizons, the administration concluded. (POC-E)
