Vice Foreign Minister Ger Bau-shuan received Steven Victor, Palau’s minister of agriculture, fisheries and environment, June 29 in Taipei City, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
Victor is visiting Taiwan to attend events marking the 30th anniversary of the Taipei City-based International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF), the ministry said. He will also call on government agencies, including the Ministry of Agriculture, to discuss bilateral cooperation on agricultural and fisheries technology.
 
In his remarks, Ger thanked Victor for accompanying Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim during her visit to Palau earlier this month and joining Hsiao in reviewing progress on Taiwan-Palau joint projects. He also expressed gratitude for Victor’s support of TaiwanICDF initiatives in emerging technologies, which he noted enhance the well-being of the people on both sides.
 
In response, Victor said he appreciated Taiwan’s long-term assistance with Palau’s national development, citing the Taiwan Technical Mission’s role in cultivating fruits and vegetables, promoting fish farming and improving nutrition. He also invited Taiwan to participate in the Pacific Islands Forum in August in Palau.
 
Under the MOFA’s integrated diplomacy policy, Taiwan and Palau have continued to advance the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project, expanding fruitful cooperation across multiple fields. Taiwan will continue to strengthen its partnership with Palau to promote mutual prosperity, the ministry added. (POC-E)
