NEW DELHI: Amid the Russia-Ukraine crises, India will provide humanitarian aid, including medicines, to Ukraine, the foreign ministry said at a news conference on Monday.
A spokesman Arindam Bagchi said at Monday’s press conference: “India will provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including medicine. However, further details are not yet available.
” Speaking about the evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine, Mr. Bagchi assured us that new flights will be added as needed.
“Some people are panicking. Please don’t worry. Once they have crossed the borders of Ukraine, we will make sure there are enough flights to bring them back, whether it takes another day or two”, he said.
He stressed that India is continuously increasing the presence of MEA teams for necessary precautions at border crossings in Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova. “Team contact details have been shared.
We increase the size of the MEA equipment. Responding to a question about whether the Indian Air Force would be deployed to evacuate stranded Indian nationals, as, during the Afghanistan crisis, Bagchi said the Air Force is ready and will be deployed if necessary.
He confirmed that currently, only commercial aircraft are working. Responding to a question about Indian citizens not receiving an answer on the hotline provided, Mr. Bagchi said the control rooms have been expanded and various channels such as WhatsApp and Twitter are operational to expand responsiveness.
In addition, the MEA spokesman also confirmed that many of the Indian citizens have moved to the western parts of Ukraine.
