Jurors failed to reach verdicts on six counts of attempted murder relating to five babies.

Prosecutors revealed they are seeking a retrial against her on one of the outstanding counts relating to baby girl Child K.

The other charges have been left to lie on the file, Manchester Crown Court was told.

Letby appeared via videolink today from HMP New Hall to hear the decision.

The five alleged victims were baby girls Child H, Child J and Child K and baby boy Child Q.

A provisional retrial date due to last between two and three weeks has been set for June 10, 2024.

Letby killed seven babies while working at Countess of Chester Hospital.

She was handed a whole life order last month that means she will be never be released from prison.

Letby refused to enter court to face justice in what the families of her victims described as a “final act of wickedness from a coward”.

She denies all the offences and formally lodged an appeal against her conviction earlier this month.
