Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs François Chih-chung Wu emphasized that Taiwan would continue strengthening substantive relations with Canada to forge resilient democratic supply chains and advance international prosperity.
Wu received a six-member Canadian delegation led by New Brunswick Provincial Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Benoît Bourque, July 20 in Taipei City. They exchanged views on democratic resilience, regional security and the cross-strait status quo.
In recent years Taiwan’s performance in trade has been in step with that of major G20 economies, Wu stated, citing the fifth place ranking for Taiwan this year in the U.S. Heritage Foundation economic freedom index, signifying recognition of the robust business and financial climate.
Bourque lauded Taiwan’s economic and trade development and geopolitics. He anticipated further expansion of Taiwan-Canada ties. The MOFA committed to promotion of dialogue and exchange between the two countries to deepen the partnership based on democracy, freedom and the rule of law. (POC-E)
