Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung visited the Polish Parliament June 23, highlighting the increasingly strong Taiwan-Poland legislative diplomacy and across-the-board partnerships, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to the MOFA, Lin was accompanied by Rafał Komarewicz, chair of the Sejm’s Committee on Economy and Development. He also met with Patryk Gabriel, deputy chair of the lower house’s Committee on EU Affairs, as well as Krzysztof Gadowski and Tomasz Nowak, deputy chairs of the Committee on Energy, Climate and State Assets, to discuss bilateral cultural, economic, technology and trade exchanges.

The foreign minister then attended a banquet hosted by the Taipei Representative Office in Poland for members of the Polish-Taiwanese Parliamentary Group. Among the high-profile guests were over 20 cross-party lawmakers including Grzegorz Schetyna, former Polish acting president and chair of the Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee, and former Polish Prime Minister Waldemar Pawlak.

Lin thanked the group for its long-standing support of Taiwan and welcomed the joint statement issued by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in April that stressed the importance of cross-strait peace and stability.

The minister went on to announce the forthcoming establishment of Taiwan Language Center locations in Europe, which will be first set up in Czechia, France, Germany and Poland to create a hub for Mandarin teaching and talent exchanges.

In response, Schetyna said that the Polish-Taiwanese Parliamentary Group is the largest bilateral group in the Sejm. He reaffirmed that both the ruling and opposition parties will continue to strongly support the expansion of two-way ties.

During the event, the Taipei City-based Taiyang Theatre Company presented a glove puppetry show as part of the MOFA’s Taiwan Culture in Europe 2026 initiative.

The ministry added that Lin attended the signing ceremony of a security research cooperation agreement between the TRO in Poland and Polish think tank Casimir Pulaski Foundation a day earlier. (YCH-E)
