The Ministry of Agriculture and the Asian Productivity Organization organized an Agricultural Net-Zero and Circular Technology workshop in Chiayi County, demonstrating commitment to tackle the challenges of climate change and net-zero transition.

The event, underway through Sept. 4, drew 19 experts and representatives from APO member economies including Malaysia and the Republic of Korea. Discussions centered on agricultural waste management, carbon recycling, greenhouse gas reduction, low carbon farming and soil as a carbon sink.

Participants visited a Yunlin County farm to see smart agriculture practices and carbon sink management mechanisms. They also visited a biotech company in Tainan City for insight into high-value-added products.

Taiwan participates in APO events to showcase circular agriculture technology and experience, working with Asia Pacific countries on production and resilience to facilitate sustainable development in the region, the MOA stated. (POC-E)
