The second edition of the #FindingTaiwan International Short Film Contest is open for applications until August 31, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The first edition was launched by the MOFA last year, the ministry said, adding that content creators from 23 countries submitted a total of 283 works presenting touching stories about Taiwan and showcasing its diversity, vitality and warmth to the international community.

This year’s competition is entitled “#FindingTAIWAN_2.0: Where We Connect.” Participants are encouraged to observe and explore diverse aspects spanning culture, democracy, innovation, technology and people-to-people exchanges to highlight the connections between Taiwan and the world so the international community can gain insight into the country from a variety of perspectives, the ministry said.

Additionally, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the MOFA’s Taiwan Panorama magazine, the ministry has launched the Taiwan Panorama Special Award. Given the publication’s long-standing dedication to introducing Taiwan to the world, the publication’s rich archive offers inspiration for creators to reinterpret stories about Taiwan, the MOFA said.

The prize pool for the contest totals NT$800,000 (US$25,141), with a grand prize of NT$200,000, while the Taiwan Panorama Special Award’s grand prize is NT$100,000, the MOFA concluded. (POC-E)
