Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi met with Army Commander Mashikilisana Moses Fakudze and Minister of Public Service Mabulala Maseko of Eswatini July 28 in Taipei City to exchange views on issues of mutual interest.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chen welcomed the officials and thanked the African ally for facilitating President Lai Ching-te’s visit in May. The deputy minister added that the warm hospitality extended by King Mswati III and Queen Mother Ntfombi Tfwala underscored the strong bond between the countries.

Chen said Taiwan attaches great importance to cooperation with Eswatini and remains committed to assisting the country with planned development, citing as an example the Taiwan Industrial and Innovation Park project. He also called on Eswatini’s government to dispatch additional military attachés to Taiwan to advance bilateral military exchanges.

Fakudze and Maseko commended the MOFA’s warm hospitality and said the government of Eswatini will select qualified personnel who have trained in Taiwan to serve as military attachés.

The MOFA said the two countries have maintained a close relationship since diplomatic ties began 58 years ago, and have built a strong foundation on which they have developed robust cooperative programs.

The ministry added that it will continue to promote bilateral projects in line with the government’s policy of integrated diplomacy to promote sustainable development and regional prosperity for both countries. (SFC-E)
