Taiwan Expo gets underway in New Delhi

The Taiwan Expo 2024 in India kicked off July 8 in New Delhi as part of government efforts to aid local firms’ expansion into major overseas markets, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Focusing on green energy and smart technology, the three-day event is a project of the MOEA’s International Trade Administration and features over 100 firms showcasing offerings in areas spanning smart manufacturing, green sustainability, healthy living and smart city development.

According to the MOEA, the event demonstrates Taiwan’s strengths in solar energy, electric vehicles and artificial intelligence, as well as solutions that explore the potential of the Internet of Things. The ITA has also integrated companies from the petrochemical, machinery, and textile sectors to set up pavilions that show innovative ways to integrate the whole supply chain.

ITA Director General Cynthia Kiang said during the event that India’s manufacturing sector is thriving due to global supply chain shifts. Taiwan has advantages in industries including semiconductors and information and communications technology, while India benefits from its demographic dividends and policy subsidies, which make the two sides ideal partners, she added.

Another highlight of the expo is a memorandum of understanding signed by the Taiwan Textile Federation and the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

A petrochemical cooperation and exchange conference will also be staged by the ITA July 10 in Mumbai, the MOEA said, adding that enterprises from Taiwan will show their products and negotiate with buyers from the All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association during the event. The ITA will continue to host promotion activities in India and step up efforts to invite Indian enterprises to come to Taiwan for business matching and factory visits, the ministry added. (YCH-E)
