According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the meeting was jointly organized with the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature. It focused on three primary areas: floral industry upgrades, seed and variety supply chains, and the cultivation of the dairy and meat safety workforce.
The MOA said both countries agreed to enhance technical cooperation to strengthen productivity and international competitiveness in their respective floral sectors, adding that arrangements will also be made for young dairy farmers from Taiwan to visit the Netherlands for relevant training. The ministry added that representatives exchanged views on issues such as smart agriculture, net-zero emissions, green agriculture and policies for adapting to climate change.
Prior to the meeting, delegates took part in the International Symposium on Agriculture and Food Resilience jointly hosted by the Netherlands Office Taipei and the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute Oct. 21 in Taichung City.
The MOA said several invited experts from Taiwan, the Netherlands, Australia and Japan shared knowledge and experience of topics spanning food resilience, water resources, soil and environment, and innovative technology in greenhouse horticulture with approximately 150 participants. (SFC-E)
