Uttar Pradesh has the promise of becoming India’s economic powerhouse, India’s ambassador to the US said on Tuesday, highlighting a change in attitude in the country’s most populous state.
“The industry stakeholders present here have been strong pillars of India-US relations. They are eagerly looking forward to taking advantage of the opportunities present in Uttar Pradesh.
UP with a population of 240 million is the most populous state,” Indian Ambassador Taranjit Sandhu said.
“Currently, with its dynamic leadership, it has the promise of becoming an economic powerhouse of India,” he added.
Sandhu was speaking at the UP Global Investors Summit, “India’s New Growth Engine Agenda”.
He noted several transformational changes taking place in the state, including a business-friendly climate, an ambitious defense corridor, world-class data centers, and connectivity projects.
“Imagine the landscape that will change, and therefore investors need to be there when the changes are made,” he added.
UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said at the event that the aim is to make Uttar Pradesh a USD 1 trillion economy.
“Uttar Pradesh’s exports were ₹ 88 lakh which has increased to ₹ 1.56 lakh today. Our economy has been doing well even during Corona. We want to make Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy,” UP Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said.
Union Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna further said that the state has electricity, security, land, and connectivity and the target is to invest ₹10 crores.
“UP has electricity, security, land, and connectivity. We are targeting an investment of ₹ 10 lakh crore. Netherlands, Denmark, Singapore, France, UK, and Mauritius have shown enthusiasm,” he added.
