The Cabinet-level National Development Council led a delegation of 27 startups to attend the Sustainable High City Tech Tokyo (SusHi Tech Tokyo) 2026 April 27-29, highlighting Taiwan’s prowess in the artificial intelligence, deep technology and sustainability.

The NDC’s Startup Island Taiwan office teamed up with the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA), the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corp. and other public and private facilities such as New Taipei City Government and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University to field the show’s Taiwan pavilion, the council said.

According to the NDC, delegates will share information on the capital, innovation and investment environment, as well as introduce the Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects in forums. The SMESA and New Taipei-based autonomous driving developer Turing Drive will sign a cooperative memorandum of understanding with Japanese partners, while Japanese innovation developers such as NTT East, Inc. will share resources for bilateral cooperation.

To accelerate business matching, major Japanese banks, trading companies and enterprises have been invited to the Taiwan pavilion, the NDC said. The council added that its Startup Island Taiwan office will also hold an Asia MriAI Day for Taiwan startups and counterparts from Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Organized by Tokyo Metropolitan Government, this year’s SusHi Tech Tokyo is expected to draw over 60,000 participants and about 700 startups from around the world. The NDC is attending the event for the third year and previously achieved over 750 business matches, the council said. It added that the NDC will continue to link with Japanese innovation resources through the Startup Island Taiwan Tokyo Hub to advance Taiwan-Japan cooperation. (YCH-E)
