The Taiwan Trade and Investment Service Center in Phoenix was inaugurated May 1 as the government works to deepen supply chain cooperation with the U.S. while helping local firms expand their international presence.

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the office is the second in the U.S. following the one that opened in Dallas last August. The milestone in the Taiwan-U.S. supply chain partnership was witnessed by Arizona senior officials and lawmakers who attended the launch ceremony.

During his remarks, MOEA Minister Kung Ming-hsin said the center will work with all levels of government in the state and facilitate local investment by Taiwanese firms. The Taiwan delegation’s visit to Arizona is expected to help explore the possibility of creating U.S. industrial clusters following the Taiwan model as stipulated in a bilateral investment memorandum of understanding concluded earlier this year, he added.

In a recorded message, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs said Taiwan and Arizona enjoy a close relationship and share a commitment to promoting cutting-edge technology and innovation. Such cooperative ties will pave the way for future technological development and enhance global supply chain resilience, she added.

The minister also visited Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s Arizona manufacturing complex before leading a delegation to participate in the 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit taking place May 3-6 in National Harbor, Maryland.

MOEA statistics show that Arizona is Taiwan’s third-largest trading partner among all U.S. states, with two-way trade amounting to US$21.24 billion in 2025, and that Taiwan is the state’s leading import source and second-largest export market. (SFC-E)
